What’s Actually Included in a Real Estate Photography Sydney Package?
“Package” is a word that gets used loosely in this industry. Two agencies can both advertise a real estate photography Sydney package and mean genuinely different things by it, which is exactly why comparing quotes side by side is harder than it should be. Here’s what’s usually in the box, and what tends to sit outside it.
The core of almost every package
At minimum, a standard package covers a set number of edited interior and exterior photos — enough to cover every room, the front of the home, and any standout outdoor space. Editing here means exposure correction and straightened verticals as a baseline, not just raw camera files handed over unedited.
What’s often bundled, but not always
Floor plans are increasingly included by default rather than quoted separately, since most agencies now expect one as standard rather than optional. Basic touch-ups — removing a bin from a driveway shot, correcting a slightly crooked horizon — are usually part of the service rather than a paid extra, though heavier retouching like removing furniture or major sky replacement often isn’t.
What’s usually a genuine add-on
Twilight photography, drone and aerial shots, virtual staging, and video walkthroughs sit outside most base packages, largely because each needs separate scheduling, equipment, or editing time. This isn’t padding — a twilight shoot genuinely requires being on site at a specific time of evening, and a drone shoot depends on separate licensing and weather conditions. Bundling everything into one flat rate regardless of what’s requested usually means everyone pays for services they don’t need.
Turnaround time as part of the package
How quickly the final gallery arrives is as much a part of the package as the photos themselves. A same-day or next-day turnaround typically costs more than a standard multi-day window, and it’s worth knowing which one you’re actually paying for before a listing deadline creates a problem.
Usage rights — the part people forget to check
Some packages license the images for a single portal listing only; others include broader usage rights for the agency’s own marketing, social media, or future resale campaigns. If there’s any chance the property will be relisted, or the agency wants to reuse strong shots in other marketing, this is worth clarifying at the point of booking rather than after the fact.
Building the right package for the property
The honest answer is that no single package fits every listing. A unit in a busy complex rarely needs drone coverage. A large family home with a renovated kitchen and a nice garden usually benefits from more than the bare minimum shot list. Rather than defaulting to the same package for every booking, it’s worth briefly matching the inclusions to what the property is actually trying to sell.
